When our people need to talk to someone about an HR issue, it’s you they’ll contact. Dedicated either to a business area (or taking control or an HR specialism), you’ll offer advice and guidance – building relationships and supporting our high-performance culture. You’ll also help identify, develop and roll-out new HR initiatives designed to improve what we do. That’s because we’re working hard to achieve ‘The Times Best 100 Companies To Work For’ status. It’s no less than our people deserve. You will also produce HR-related management information when required, which will help shape and inform managers decisions. We’ll also expect you to cross the t’s and dot the i’s so that we’re legally compliant at every employment touchpoint and able to mitigate risks. 

About You
Whether you join us in a generalist HR or HR specialist capacity, you’ll need previous experience of carrying out similar duties within an organisation such as ours. A good relationship-builder, you’re committed to outstanding customer service and eager to bring new ways of thinking to help us improve on the great work we’ve already achieved. Beyond that, we’re looking for someone who’ll thrive in an environment like ours. At NPL, we learn from each other, respect each other and work together to do better. For ourselves and for our customers. And whilst we’re always looking to stretch beyond what we know, we don’t make things more complicated when there’s no need
 
Key skills
  • We are looking for someone who has experience within a HR generalist role
  • You'll be expected to have knowledge of a broad range of employee relation and strong understanding of UK employment law
  • Experience of HR reporting, understanding and interrogating data, along with providing analysis
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proactive approach, confident to work alone and also in a collaborative environment
  • Ability to work under pressure with conflicting priorities
