About the Role

NPL sets the standards by which everything is measured. In doing so, the National Physical Laboratory is helping to combat issues on a global scale such as climate change, curing diseases and the development of innovative communications technology. Hence, we have a large and complex project portfolio which are led or supported by the Science and Engineering Project Management Office (SED PMO). We recently implemented an Enterprise Project Management system to manage this portfolio and are looking for someone to come on the journey with us to be our PMO Data Analyst as we develop and mature this capability.

We have chosen Microsoft Project Online with some O365 supporting tools feeding data through to PowerBI as our primary delivery tool for project reporting and information. We have started with a simple solution but know that this will grow and develop. We need someone who is conversant with Project terminology and who can feed us insights into current project performance to keep us delivering day to day but who can also help us develop this tool as we really start to make it work for us.

About You

As the Data Analyst for the PMO you will have:

  • A working knowledge of project terminology
  • A background in Data management / system development / programming
  • Hands on capability in data manipulation, report generation, PowerBI app development
  • Be interested in our technical background and be enthusiastic for the projects that we manage
  • Attention to detail and adherence to the monthly reporting cycle and its importance to the business functionality
  • A willingness to continually improve
Skills and Knowledge
  • Proactive behaviours, with a strong focus on delivering for both customer and NPL
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Apps / programs knowledge of:
    • Microsoft Project, PowerBI, Sequel Database, Excel, PowerApps, SharePoint
    • Automation of common Microsoft apps for reporting

This role will be based in Teddington, Middlesex so you will be asked to attend site especially at the start of the contract but later hybrid working can be facilitated.
