About the Role

As a Project Officer, you are a key member of the delivery team for a programme or portfolio of projects. You are responsible for the timely and accurate management of reporting throughout the programme and support to all the projects.

NPL has a number of exciting projects and programmes starting, including the Advanced Machinery & Productivity Initiative (AMPI). AMPI will stimulate and support rapid growth in the UK’s machinery manufacturing sector, using highly integrated digital solutions and sophisticated automated and autonomous robotic systems. Based across West Yorkshire and Greater Manchester, this partnership will provide businesses with access to cutting-edge R&D, expertise and facilities that help solve innovation challenges.

About You

You will have

  • A background in project management or project officer roles within Innovate UK funded projects
  • A track record of providing end to end support on project deliverables ensuring that tasks are completed efficiently, accurately and in line with the governance.
  • The ability to collate, produce and analyse project management information and reporting. Provide status reports for progress on delivery of projects.
  • Experience in risk and issues management for assigned projects, providing clear communications and project support to the Project and Programme Manager(s).
  • Excellent capabilities in meeting management by taking minutes, circulating appropriate information, and following up on actions agreed.
  • Experience in working on projects that have multiple partners from industry, government and academia, are multi-disciplinary and have a technical scope of work.
  • Experience in an environment where technology is being built
  • A desire to continually improve.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Degree level qualification (or equivalent)
  • Highly proficient in project management techniques and their application
  • Project Management Qualification (APM PFQ or equivalent)
  • Strong people management skills to work within a cross functional, multi-disciplinary team and to influence people
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to present complex information effectively to meet the needs of different audiences
  • Proactive behaviours, with a strong focus on delivering for both customer and NPL.
  • Proficiency in all aspects of Microsoft OfficeTM, including MS Project

This role will be based within Greater Manchester and West Yorkshire, with the ability to work flexibly and remotely for some of your time.
