About the Role
Who sets the standards, to ensure that anything that can be measured is done so with consistency and reliability? We do. Through our vital research, the National Physical Laboratory is helping support scientific and commercial innovations, international trade, environmental protection and health and wellbeing. With so much going on, we’ve got lots to communicate. As an Internal Communications Coordinator, you’ll help get our message out there. At NPL, we touch ordinary lives in extraordinary ways and you could too.

As we continue to stretch boundaries, there’s a lot to get excited about and share. It’s the perfect opportunity to expand on your internal communications experience, as you support the delivery of a wide range of communication programmes and channels. Not only will you ensure our news and information is communicated clearly and effectively, you’ll also make sure anything we produce epitomises best practice and is aligned with our brand and style guidelines.

In addition, you will help to create and maintain important information on our SharePoint-based intranet, and ensure our internal events are delivered efficiently and effectively. Naturally, you’ll see that everything you do is done to the highest standards, on time and within budget.

We work in a hybrid way, but flexibility and the ability to be in the office at least 2 to 3 days a week is important, dues to the nature of the role.

About You

With a genuine interest in building on your internal communications experience, you understand the principles and are eager to put that to good use. You have:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organising skills and attention to detail
  • A proactive approach and a drive to deliver your work efficiently and effectively
  • Confidence with using Office 365 tools, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Stream, Planner
  • Experience in creating and editing SharePoint pages

What’s more you’re willing to learn, try new approaches, and are a good team player. Beyond that, we’re looking for someone who’ll thrive in an environment like ours. At NPL, we learn from each other, respect each other and work together to do better. For ourselves and for our customers.

We actively recruit citizens of all backgrounds, but the nature of our work in specific departments means that nationality, residency and security requirements can be more tightly defined than others. You will be asked about this throughout the recruitment process. To work at NPL, you will need to obtain BPSS security clearance.

Please note:  Applications will be reviewed, and interviews conducted throughout the duration of this advert therefore we may at any time bring the closing date forward.  We encourage all interested applicants to apply as soon as practical.
