About the Role

Aerosol science is important to address problems within air pollution and climate change. NPL’s Gas and Particle Metrology Group has been at the forefront of bringing metrology to this area. We have already set up several calibration services and are responsible for operating several national monitoring networks for atmospheric aerosols, combining field operation with a focus on low measurement uncertainty. We are also involved in several European projects in response to increased demand to provide traceability and calibration techniques for measurements of properties such as aerosol particle size distribution, concentration, composition, and black carbon.

The successful candidate will have

• A degree in Physics, Chemistry or Engineering

• Extensive relevant experience, gained either through employment or postgraduate research (such as PhD).
