NPL hosts EURAMET’s Management Support Unit for its large-scale European metrology research programme jointly funded by the European Union and participating countries within EURAMET eV. The programme will run until 2024 and supports large pan-European collaborative research projects in measurement science.

The Management Support Unit (MSU) is a dynamic team within NPL, administering a large-scale European metrology research programme on behalf of EURAMET (the European network of national metrology institutes). As a Science Writer –Communications, you’ll manage the communication of the programme outputs in liaison with EURAMET head office (newsletter, website, Twitter, LinkedIn etc.).More specifically, you will proof and edit your own and other’s material, review projects, develop, prepare and deliver promotional material in accordance with the EURAMET communication policy.You will use a flexible writing style, adjusted to different communication types and media and convert scientific outputs into written materials suitable for specialists and non-specialists.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Science Writer to join an expanding sector of the business and closely interact with a world-class scientific community of 500+ metrologists. Moreover, this role will provide you with a broad exposure to a diverse research organisation, producing technical and non-technical written material for a variety of channels.

As a Science Writer you will be able to understand complex scientific knowledge and translate it into scientific communications and educational materials.

 
 
About You

You’ll need to be a Science or Scientific Writer, who’s able to take the complicated and make it easy to understand. Great communication skills are essential, as is a good portfolio of work for us to look at. Online, social media and printed publications experience is essential,and you must be adept at creating, interpreting, consolidating, structuring and presenting scientific information in a concise and effective manner. You should have a flair for writing captivating and convincing text, understanding of publishing styles (online and printed) and different media/formats.
