About the Role

The Management Support Unit (MSU) is a dynamic team within NPL, administering a large-scale European metrology research programme on behalf of EURAMET. As a primary contact,you’ll take responsibility for a wide range of administrative duties – dealing with everything effectively and efficiently. From coordinating documents and facilitating processes in response to calls, to supporting the yearly Review Conference and being on hand for external referees (sorting out payments and logistics for example),you’ll be proactive in dealing with a flexible workload. You’ll also ensure researcher grant payments are made promptly as well as operate the MSU helpdesk. You will manage the administrative and some web/database (training will be offered) duties of the Unit and ensure that agreed delivery and quality objectives are fully met.

NPL hosts EURAMET’s Management Support Unit for its large-scale European metrology research programme jointly funded by the European Union and participating countries within EURAMET eV. The programme will run until 2024 and supports large pan-European collaborative research projects in measurement science.

About You

An experienced Administrative Officer who’s impeccably organised, customer-focussed and detail oriented.  You have excellent communication skills in spoken and written English, proven administrative, logistics and/or project management experience, understanding of basic financial procedures and high attention to detail.  You’re flexible, personable, approachable and keen to learn. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is essential. Experience of working in a scientific research environment, supporting technical projects and knowledge of either UK grant based or EU funding initiatives is highly beneficial. Some travel within Europe will be expected.
