About the Role
 NPL are implementing a Digital Modernisation transformation programme with the following 5 key strategic themes:

Responsible for the delivery of data management across the organisation to embed quality data, information and knowledge management. Designing and delivering a data capability to meet the requirements of a centralised Business Intelligence function for insight, analytics and reporting.

Areas of focus:
  • Deliver technical data capabilities to support the centralised Business Intelligence reporting function.
  • Development of ETL processes where required between operational ERP/CRM and other data sources in accordance with business requirements for reporting, analytics and insight.
  • Drive adherence to data quality requirements across the platform.
  • Enable a significant self-serve reporting capability.
  • Collaborate with IT Services and science delivery teams to deliver capability for the adoption of FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) processing of data across NPL business and science.
  • Develop and maintain the data dictionary and data model and deliver technology that supports a company wide taxonomy and metadata structures to improve information search and knowledge transfer.
  • Ensure adherence to the data management framework for good data governance and knowledge management of all NPL information assets.
  • Support IT Services with requirements for Data Governance, Security, Retention and Backup.

About You
  • Experience developing large complex data systems - capturing, storing and processing data.
  • Understanding of ETL design and Data Warehousing.
  • Deep understanding of the big data landscape.
  • Experience optimising data queries to ensure optimal performance.
  • Implementation of Data Quality processes.
  • Experience with Microsoft technologies including SQL/SERVER, PowerBI, SQL AZURE, SSRS, DevOps.
  • Relational Databases, Performance Tuning, OLAP, SQL DBA Skills.
  • Knowledge of Dynamics 365 and its data structures is highly desirable.
  • Experience in systems development and systems support, ideally in relation to Business Information, Analytical Data Processing and/or CRM solutions.
