About the Role

NPL’s Time & Frequency department is looking for a visionary Systems Architect to join an Internationally recognised team where there is a huge opportunity to contribute, transform and grow within a world-class programme.

This programme has been devised to deliver time and frequency solutions to a range of new end users. As Systems Architect, you will be heavily involved in designing the information and communications technology for the our timing services. You will interface with multiple stakeholders both from within our organisation and from a variety of industrial sectors, including defence, space and communications.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Interfacing with internal and external stakeholders in order to determine their needs and manage expectations.
  • Ensuring that solution architectures are fit for purpose, deliver against user and business needs and are designed for future scalability.
  • Generating the system requirements, based on user needs and taking into account technical constraints and programme budget.
  • Working with scientists and implementation engineers to ensure that the requirements are consistent, complete and operationally well defined.
  • Providing architectural management of the infrastructure, managing gaps and overlaps in capability, reducing cost and bring a fresh approach to future maintainability and acceptance testing.
 
About You

You will join a team of multi-disciplined engineers and scientists to provide technical insight on projects and initiatives that guide the next generation of technologies. We are looking for enthusiastic and driven individuals to build the culture to deliver to our customers and evolve NPL to operate at the highest standards in our operation.

Along with an in-depth knowledge of networking topologies and systems architecture, and demonstrating an enthusiasm for pushing technical boundaries, you should ideally have some specific domain knowledge. You will be great with people, have a strong ability to prioritise your workload and be a clear, confident communicator.
