About the Role

Join NPL as a Policy Co-ordinator to make a key contribution to our policy engagement activity.

NPL undertakes excellent science and engineering to deliver extraordinary impact for the UK and provide the measurement capability that underpins the UK's prosperity and quality of life. As a part of delivering this impact we work with governments and agencies to inform better policy development and delivery.

Typically, you will help to write policy briefings and responses to consultations and inquiries, organise stakeholder visits and events, and help to manage our government stakeholders. This will involve working with NPL scientists and engineers, as well as a wide range of government officials.

We will expect you to keep abreast of government policy activity that relates to the work of NPL, as well as undertaking policy research and horizon scanning activities.

About You
 
  • Superb written and oral communication skills are essential, as is the ability to build effective relationships.
  • You will also have excellent organizational skills.
  •  It’s important that you have experience of writing about technical subjects for a non-specialist audience.
  • It's an advantage if you have experience in working on complex policies for a large, high-profile organisation.
  •  It’s an advantage if you have knowledge or experience related to the UK science policy landscape.
