  • Note: This is a 12 month Fixed Term Contract role

    As member of the Time and Frequency Dept, this role is responsible for strategic planning across physical security, vetting, design and operational requirements for projects and programmes aligned to NPL’s challenge area ambitions. It ensures compliance with customer and UK security requirements.

    Key Responsibilities:
     
    • Provide security leadership to ensure NPL’s mission, strategy and plans are articulated and understood internally and externally for your areas of the business
    • Ensure both the strategic and operational design elements are built into programmes and projects relating to NPLs involvement in UK security and resilience projects
    • Develop strategic plans to address any gaps in security performance considering new threats and developing capabilities for new technologies
    • Ensure compliance with appropriate internal and external governance including quality, health, safety, security, and environmental legislation minimising risk to the business and enhancing NPL’s reputation
    • Provide pragmatic and appropriate assurance, advice, guidance, and training across the organisation on security requirements, procedures, processes, and legislation
    • Lead the development of a security assurance process covering current security arrangements across people and physical security
    • Review updates in legislation and threats ensuring that they are communicated and implemented into the business security management procedures and processes
    • Work with internal and external stakeholders. Ensure you and your team are working effectively together with relevant parts of the organisation

  • About You

  • It’s likely you are an experience security leader, experiences in leading security process and providing assurance to businesses. You will be able to work autonomously and also as part of a team. Beyond that, we’re looking for someone who’ll thrive in an environment like ours.

     

    Essential Experience:

    • Excellent communication skills and stakeholder management
    • Leadership experience including line management and mentoring 
    • Previous experience as a Security Controller or as a Security officer for a large organisation
    • Experience writing security strategy and policy documentation
    • Membership of DISA or Membership of Security Institute
    Desirable Experience:

    • Experience in Government, working with Facility Security Clearance requirements
    • Experience in or understanding the requirements for Critical National Infrastructure
    • Experience in handling and producing Security Aspects Letters (SALs)
    • Experience of NPSA physical security requirements
    • Experience of processing vetting requests through the UKSV Portal, transferring clearances and writing Residency waivers
