Technology Transfer Manager

Join NPL and help translate cutting-edge science into real-world impact. We are looking for an experienced and commercially minded Technology Transfer Manager to join our Partnerships Directorate at NPL. You will manage a portfolio of technology transfer opportunities, maximising the value of NPL’s science and technology through successful translation and adoption by industry and society.

You will have a degree (or equivalent experience) in a relevant scientific, engineering, or business discipline, with a strong track record in technology transfer, commercialisation, or knowledge exchange. You will be commercially astute, with excellent project management skills and the ability to build strategic partnerships. Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills are essential, along with experience in business case development and IP strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement technology transfer strategies to maximise the commercial and societal impact of NPL’s scientific and engineering outputs.
• Drive the exploitation of knowledge assets through licensing, spinouts, and strategic partnerships.
• Develop business cases to secure funding and resources, ensuring a structured and milestone-driven approach to commercialisation.
• Build and manage relationships with industry partners and stakeholders to test value propositions and drive adoption.
• Monitor and manage a balanced set of financial and non-financial metrics to measure success and growth.
• Champion best practices in intellectual property and technology transfer across NPL, providing training and guidance to colleagues.
