  • About the Role

  • As Data Strategy Manager you will work with the Data Strategy lead and be part of the Digital and Data Strategy team. You will help design and implement frameworks,policy and technical guidance for NPL’s data governance and embed these into our science and operational teams. 

    You will be responsible for rolling out our Data Strategy programme and helping define the technical, legislative, and regulatory requirements for NPL to make best use of its data and to make sure we have established corporate principles for creating, managing and exploiting our data assets.  

     

    You will coordinate and collaborate work on our data strategy across NPL’s science,quality, IT and cyber teams, including analysis of existing ways of working and managing data to make sure these areas are aligned with the main data strategy framework and, where applicable, collaborate with those teams to create joint policies and initiatives. 

     

    Responsibilities 

    • Leading the roll-out of NPL’s data strategy, frameworks and policies  
    • Ensuring NPL complies with current data standards, legal regulations and policies 
    • Investigating and promoting industry best practice on data governance and use 
    • Integrating NPL best practice and data standards across science and operational areas 
    • Creating Data-related Policies and procedures 
    • Stakeholder engagement  - Working with IT, Cyber, Quality and Science teams to help define requirements for data storage and curation 
    • Learn from best practice in other organisations and decide where to adopt/adapt industry standards where applicable

  • About You

  • Essential Skills Required 

    • Knowledge of best-practice data governance and management approaches 
    • Ability to understand applicability of technical solutions for data governance and create requirements for solutions to data governance and management 
    • Expertise in rolling-out data governance policies and frameworks 
    • Ability to analyse and demonstrate compliance with external data standards and UK Government data policies and frameworks
