  • NPL is the UK's National Metrology Institute. Our role is to research, create and deliver the measurement infrastructure, which underpins the UK's prosperity and quality of life across many fields of industry.

    In this varied and busy role, you will ensure feedback channels are working well and views from our people are being heard and acted upon, working closely with our internal People Council. You will provide ongoing expertise to our Strategic People Partners who work together with our leaders to create, communicate, and deliver compelling local engagement plans.

    Interrogating and understanding engagement data is vital to shape discussions, working closely with the leadership team to drive positive changes at an organisational level. Using this data, you will play a key role in developing and implementing strategies to support the wellbeing of staff while sustainably delivering company objectives.

    Working as part of the wider People Solutions Team, you will support communication of strategic people initiatives, collating views to inform discussions and sharing outcomes. Working collaboratively with subject matter experts, you will provide communications expertise to a range of projects, which include (but are not limited to) learning and development, career progression, diversity and inclusion, and recognition.

    To give you a taste of the role, if you were on board already, you would be:

    • Actively championing ‘employee voice’ taking the lead on our ‘always on’ employee feedback platform, Thymometrics and our communications & engagement working groups
    • Working closely with of People Council lead to shape discussions and set the agenda
    • Supporting the planning and delivery of targeted engagement activities, communications, reporting, and presenting results and recommendations to our leadership team
    • Taking an evidence-based and insight-led approach to enabling individual and organisational wellbeing, driving the delivery of our Wellbeing Strategy
    • Working collaboratively with the People Solutions team to develop and deliver communications on our current strategic projects.
    • Forging strong partnerships and engaging stakeholders across the organisation
    • Line managing 2 People Solutions colleagues
  • About You

  • To succeed in this position, you should have experience working in an employee engagement role in a complex and agile organisation. You should also understand best practices for managing employee engagement, a good understanding of workplace wellbeing programmes, and excellent communication and influencing skills to motivate and engage all stakeholders articulately. An ability to think creatively and to pick up technology quickly is also essential.  Line management experience is preferable but not essential.
