  • Join NPL to manage high-profile Estates programmes that help NPL to support the UK industry and bring real- world benefits.

    NPL Estates delivers facilities management and construction projects on behalf of DSIT and NPL to provide world-leading facilities for NPL’s science and engineering programmes.

    Ultimately, these programmes deliver and maintain the physical infrastructure and bespoke requirements for NPL’s cutting-edge science and engineering activities. Managing these programmes is a major responsibility – and a huge career opportunity. 

    Your role will be based within our Estates Team, where you will report directly to the Head of Estates. You will lead on developing, contracting and managing the delivery of assigned programmes. This will involve managing all aspects of programme governance and assurance, ensuring individual projects are effectively defined, resourced and co-ordinated to strict time, quality and cost outcomes. 

    You will also manage the performance of a matrix team, developing their capability to ensure the programmes reach their milestones, with all risk and dependencies well-managed.

    Effective stakeholder management and engagement will be central to the success of your programmes. Your communication skills will also have a wider impact – we want you to champion programme management best practices throughout the organisation and support their wider adoption.

  • About You

  • You will be a highly proficient in programme and project management techniques, you will bring experience of getting the best out of teams operating in a matrix environment.

    Please note: this role requires SC clearance 

    Essential Skill

    • a minimum of 5 years programme management experience.
    • Experience of project management methodologies including waterfall and agile.
    • Experience of communication with and delivery to senior executives.
    • Good stakeholder management skills.
    • Strong communication and presentation skills.
    • A post graduate qualification in finance essential.
    • Experience in the negotiation of commercial contracts.
    • Experience in procurement activities such as contract specification, tender evaluation, demobilisation and mobilisation activities.
    • A good understanding of introducing or adapting technology solutions.
    • Experience of working in regulatory environments.
    • You must be an experienced programme manager who has successfully delivered large construction programmes and projects, ideally in a technically demanding environment.
    • You will be adept at coordinating, monitoring and steering individual projects to ensure alignment with programme objectives.
    • You will have the credibility and experience to engage and influence a wide range of stakeholders at senior level.
    • Your excellent communication skills will enable you to present complex information effectively to meet the needs of different audiences
