  • About the Role

  • AMPI, the Advanced Machinery and Productivity Institute, is an industry-defined initiative to stimulate and support rapid growth of the UK’s machinery manufacturing sector. By driving innovation to enable machinery manufacturers to overcome the challenges of developing new technologies, AMPI will be a pivotal intervention that fulfils a critical aspect in the UK’s manufacturing innovation landscape. The AMPI programme is a consortium of 16 companies led by NPL and will run until the end of 2026.

This is a full time FTC opportunity until Dec 2026 to join the AMPI team as an Administrator or Senior Administrator for the remainder of the programme, helping NPL deliver the current programme and shape the future of the institute.

You will be supporting the programme management team across all aspects of the programme including project coordination, partner engagement and communications, and event planning, along with general administrative duties such as calendar management and minute taking.

We are recruiting across levels and will consider applications from candidates with varied experience. Offer and salary will depend on experience.
  • About You

  • As you’ll be responsible for the day-to-day management of the programme's administrative duties, you need to have plenty of hands-on administration experience. In addition, you’ll have superb communication skills and be comfortable engaging with external stakeholders. As one of NPL's major external programmes there will be a wide range of opportunities to develop your skills and experience in multiple areas.

Beyond that, we’re looking for someone who’ll thrive in an environment like ours. At NPL, we learn from each other, respect each other and work together to do better. For ourselves and for our customers. And whilst we’re always looking to stretch beyond what we know; we don’t make things more complicated when there’s no need. Together, we’re helping make the impossible, possible.

We actively recruit citizens of all backgrounds, but the nature of our work in specific departments means that nationality, residency and security requirements can be more tightly defined than others. You will be asked about this throughout the recruitment process. To work at NPL, you will need to obtain BPSS security clearance.

Please note:  Applications will be reviewed, and interviews conducted throughout the duration of this advert therefore we may at any time bring the closing date forward.  We encourage all interested applicants to apply as soon as practical
